Vintage Mason Jar DIY: Turn a Mason Jar Into a Pendant Light

Mason Jar turning into your home pendant Lighting

Mason jars are a versatile and affordable item that can be transformed into many things. One of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to repurpose them is by turning them into pendant lights! This DIY project is perfect for those who want to add a bit of rustic charm to their home decor without breaking the bank.

In this post, we'll walk you through the steps on how to create your very own mason jar pendant light.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

The first step is to gather all the necessary supplies. You'll need a mason jar, a pendant light kit (which includes a socket, cord, and threaded collar), a marker, scissors, a hammer, and a nail.

Step 2: Prepare the Mason Jar

Remove the lid and set it aside. Trace a circle in the lid of the jar using the socket as a guide.

Step 3: Make a Hole

Using the hammer and nail, make a hole in the lid along the lines. Once you have enough room, cut along the line using the scissors until you have a hole just big enough to fit the socket (but not the collar).

Step 4: Assemble the Pendant Light Kit

Unpack the pendant light kit and assemble it according to the instructions.

Step 5: Attach the Mason Jar to the Pendant Light Kit

Feed the socket through the hole in the lid of the mason jar. Screw the pendant collar onto the socket to keep it secure to the lid. Then, screw the lid back onto the jar, making sure the socket is snugly fit into the hole you drilled earlier.

Step 6: Add Light Bulb and Hang Your New Pendant Light!

These pendants are designed for indoor use only. If you plan to use them outdoors, be sure to use wet rated products and properly seal any openings to keep moisture out.

Happy crafting!
